Context

PhD position in development of cracking computational models in high entropy alloys

We are looking for a highly motivated PhD candidate for a project related to the development of cracking computational models in high entropy alloys.

Context

In the frame of a collaborative project between three universities (Ulg, UCL and ULB), the main objective of the offered PhD position will be to develop a numerical modeling framework for cracking in high entropy alloys, known for their high toughness properties.

Context

In the context of Belgian research project, the Universite catholique de Louvain, the Universite libre de Bruxelles, and the Universite de Liege are collaborating  to study from the atomic-scale to the macro-scale the thermomechanical failure of a new family of alloys.

3 PhD positions in Computational Mechanics in Belgium and Luxembourg

Context

Profs. Thierry J. Massart (Universite Libre de Bruxelles), Ludovic Noels (Universite de Liege) and Stephane P.A.
Bordas (University of Luxembourg) have recently been awarded a joint research project by the FNRS and FNR.
The project focuses on the mechanical behavior of discrete metallic materials, such as metal foams and printed metallic structures

PhD position in multi-scale modeling for robust-design of vibrating micro sensors

 The project

This project aims at improving the efficiency of the manufacturing process of MEMS while decreasing the production cost by considering at the design stage the uncertainties in such a way that a range of the MEMS properties can be predicted for the manufactured products, which will be immune to factors that could adversely affect performance. This approach is called robust design and it is focused on achieving target reliability.
