is it possible bi-directional composite laminates analysis in ansys???
Submitted by murugesan_kpm on Mon, 2011-03-14 05:09.hi this murugesan.....i am doing project on composite materials......i have one big doubt in composite analysis...i am using 0+90 net like fiber composites.....i want to analysis laminates of 0+90 orientation of 5mm thicknes and 8 plies.....these orientation are bi-directional.......i found in ansys, we can apply the orientation of uni-directional ply only.........my question is, if anyss can analyss the bi-directional laminates?....how can we give bi-directional orientation.....if ansys did nt perform means, suggest any useful software for performing bi-directional laminates analysis..........kindly inform me through mail also.... murugesan_kpm@yahoo.com

delamination analysis
Submitted by murugesan_kpm on Fri, 2011-01-21 05:15.- i am doing M.E in tamil nadu....am doing final year project in composites material...i.e., delamination analysis of composite material in glass fiber with epoxy.....i do the analysis in ANSYS 12...i saw in ANSYS there is APDL program as same as my project...i.e., VM 248.......i need step by step instruction of APDL program.....pls hepl me as soon as possible..........
total length = 125mm, width = 25mm, thick = 5mm, and crack in mid plane = 50mm crack........kindly send any tutorial for my project......

specifications of specimen.....
length = 125 mm; initial crack = 50 mm; laminates = 8 layer; thickness = 4.5 mm; density = 600gmcc.
