2018 IMECE Student Travel Award Competition

The Applied Mechanics Executive Committee (AMD-EC) is pleased to announce the 2018 IMECE student travel award competition, which is sponsored by the Haythornthwaite Foundation*.

Applied Mechanics Division – Haythornthwaite Foundation Research Initiation Grants 2018

With funding from the Haythornthwaite Foundation, the Executive Committee (EC) of the Applied Mechanics Division (AMD) of ASME is pleased to announce the establishment of the Haythornthwaite Research Initiation Grant Program, targeting university faculty engaged in research in theoretical and applied mechanics that are at the beginning of their academic careers.

We wanted to alert you for the call for nominations of the awards of the Applied Mechanics Division (AMD) of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), which are due on September 15th, 2018.

2018 Stephen P. Timoshenko Medal - Professor Ares Rosakis

The Executive Committee of the ASME Applied Mechanics Division is pleased to announce and congratulate Professor Ares Rosakis, the Theodore von Kármán Professor of Aeronautics and Mechanical Engineering, California Institute of Technology, as the recipient of the 2018 Timoshenko Medal.

2018 Daniel C. Drucker Medal - Professor David Barnett

Applied Mechanics Division – Haythornthwaite Foundation Research Initiation Grants 2017

With funding from the Haythornthwaite Foundation, the Executive Committee (EC) of the Applied Mechanics Division (AMD) of ASME is pleased to announce the establishment of the Haythornthwaite Research Initiation Grant Program, targeting university faculty engaged in research in theoretical and applied mechanics that are at the beginning of their academic careers. Applicants must hold a tenure‐track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor at a US university on October 1, 2017, and must not be more than 5 years beyond receipt of their doctoral degree at the time the award is made.

Announcement of the 2016 Haythornthwaite Grants Recipients

The AMD-ASME Executive Committee is delighted to announce the 2016 recipients of the Haythornthwaite Grants. 

2016 Haythornthwaite Research Initiation Grants:
