composite with taper plies

Hi,

I am Sri Harsha from IITMadras.

I have been trying to do composite with 40 plies out of which 20 taper plies in 1 in 20 ramp.

It is giving error which I am sending in the attachment..

If
I am trying to work with 20 normal plies with no taper plies in it and only 20 taper plies separately
it is working but when I do combine these two it is giving error. I do not
know what was wrong in it. Can anyone please help me out in this. I have
to do this as soon as possible.

The Macondo incident failed due to the failure of the BOP atop the Macondo well.  The BOP was designed to activate and seal the well if control was lost, even in a “low probability, high impact event”, such as the blowout that occurred the evening of April 20, 2010.  The report released from NAE/NRC, entitled “Macondo Well-Deepwater Horizon Blowout, lessons for improving offshore Drilling Safety”, summarized the known and suspected reasons for why the BOP failed:

Hi all

I am a PhD rsearch scollar from SVNIT Surat. 

I am working on Failure analysis of composite by using higher order shear deformation theory. I had written matlab code for FEM.

I got the the results but i am loosing accuracy. Can anyone suuggest me what is the best way to calculate accurate stresses.

What care is to be taken for in plane and out of plane loading conditions.

I'm trying to subtract a list of elements one of the other and I'm getting stuck.

I get my sets using the following code:

MODELLING RVE FOR SFRC

Hello!

I have to model the RVE for steel fiber reinforced concrete using abaqus. I have to validate it for compressive behaviour and drop weight impact analysis. I am new to abaqus and i have no idea how to do it. Can someone please help me do it? I am in serious need of some sort of guidance.

J integral - Abaqus- Crack growth-Fracture mechanics

Dear Colleague

I modeled a 2D three point specimen with a crack in abaqus, i want to plot J integral against crack extention, but  dont know how to determine the crack extention. i can get the J value from history output, but cannot plot it against crack extention. please help me in this case, thanks in advance.

BOP pressure test incident

Hello ,

I would like to share an incident that happened recently in our rig. 

Facts Pressure Testing of
Shaffer BOP to 15000 psi ongoing. When pressure reached 4700 psi the lower
single ram door was blown off the BOP. Causes It was found that the door
locking mechanism was not engaged, due to human error. Corrective
measures/learnings

• Improve safety culture on
board

• Improve procedures for
maintenance and operation of BOP

ALARP (As Low as Reasonably Practical) principle is one of the key techniques used to demonstrate application of Safety Management System on a Project /Worksite. It requires that hazards to personnel and the environment are identified, risks from these hazards are understood and that all reasonably practicable steps are taken to minimise the identified risks. It is similar to Best Available Technique which is applied to minimise environmental impacts from activity, product or services.
