Dynamic Analysis of Tank filled with Fluid

hi all,

i want to perform dynamic analysis of a tank filled with fluid. I was trying to model this in ANSYS with FLUID80 element for fluid and shell element for the shell. But due to complexity, i was forced to used degenerated solid element, which FLUID80 does not allow.

please tell me any other way to model it.

Modeling Viscoelastic Dielectrics

Dielectric elastomer, as an important category of electroactive polymers, is known to have viscoelastic properties that strongly affect its dynamic performance and limit its application. Very few models accounting for the effects of both electrostatics and viscoelasticity exist in the literature, and even fewer are capable of making reliable predictions under general loads and constraints. Based on the principals of nonequilibrium thermodynamics, this paper develops a field theory that fully couples the large inelastic deformations and electric fields in deformable dielectrics.

The Piezoelectric Device Laboratory has immediate opennings for recent PhDs.  We are engaged in researchs in piezoeelctric acoustic wave resonators with supports from government and indsutry.  The Laboratory has been grwoing and we would like to have new members to accelerate the pace and expand collaborations with the fast growing piezoelectric acoustic wave device industry in China and other countries.

Material modelling of steel in cyclic behaviour - Abaqus

Hi friends,

I am studying about cyclic behaviour  of steel-concrete composite column. When i am giving material properties of steel, i have doubt  about Isotrophic Hardening and Kinematic Hardening, which one i have to use to get cyclic behaviour of column.

 Thank You

How to model helical spring in ansys

Hello All,

I am modeling helical spring wounded on the surface of cylindrical shell. High aspect ratio of helical wire creates problem in meshing. please help me in selecting the element and meshing.

Stress intensity factor for 3D crack in ansys

Hello to all the research scholars. Sir, I am a Phd student in computational fracture mechanics. Right now i am stuck with a problem where i am not able analyze SIF (K1, K2, K3) for a 3D crack in ansys. Ansys asks the path for K value and i am choosing 5 nodes along the 2 crack edges for a full crack model and I also went for both global coordinate system and local coordinate system for finding K. Finally when i went to nodal calc and SIF then it is giving only plane stress and plane strain conditions with full or half crack models. But I am not able to get SIF on the crack front as i am not choosing the path along the crack front. It is only giving SIF at the crack tip considering only the area. Am i not correct or does ansys has limitations on this. Please guide me in this.

Need user material Fortran code for viscoelastic

Where I can find the subroutine of a user material Fortran code for Viscoelastic constitutive model?

Does anyone has the subroutine for LS-DYNA ?

Can anyone help me?

stepTime VS. totalTime

Hello everyone,

I have a problem with one user subroutine.

The fact is that, debugging the subroutine I see the totaltime different from the steptime. I am using just one step and the .inp implementation is veryfied with a different user subroutine, so totaltime and steptime should be exactly the same (but they are not...)

The value of the total time is around 1e-8 and the value of the steptime is around 1e-55.

Could anyone give me a clue?

Thanks in advance.

Abaqus CAE

Hi,

I am analysis for installation of pile in soil (Pile rigid body and Soil Eulerian material)simulation in Abaqus\ CAE.

I have given reference point on the pile to assign the mass of pile(top portion). (Pile penetrates vertically into the soil)

I have to give centrifugal force to Pile (300 kN), where can I assing the force? (Point of assignment). And how can I give predcribed displacement of Pile (say 10m)

x-y plot for an element set

I wish to plot say stresses at the centroid of each element in a set,

x-coordiante is x distance

y- coordinate is the stress.

Any simple idea please. Thanks.

Tensor operation

I am trying to make a material model for my FEM come and while deriving Elasticity tensor I found a term where I have to do some tensor operation. It is as below

P:C:PT  where all the terms are 4th order tensors. Now I konw the result of this should be a 4th order tensor only as this term is in addition with other 4th order terms. Here any (A:B) indicates Double dot product between A and B.

Please help me out with this if you know or suggest some good tensor calculus book where I can refer for my problem.

Thanks.

How to perform surface boundary integration in elasticity fem?

This is a basic question regard to elsticity fem.

How to compute traction boundary integration numerically in elasticity fem under general situation? That is:

\int_{\Gamma} [N][t] d\Gamma,   here [N] is shape function and [t] is surface traction

SN curve(s) of an anisotropic material

HI,

I was just wondering how many S-N curves would i need to  define the fatigue properties of an anisotropic material. For an isotropic material we just use 1-curve. Would that also  be enough  for an anisotropic material? We need 21 elastic constants to define anisotropic material. Would the number of SN curves be similar or be somehow related to the number or would the number of S-N curves required would be probabilistic in nature. i.e. we find the S-N curves along several planes and get a some sort of probabilistic distibution.

Zanaboni Theorem Is Invalid:Re-review

Saint-Venant’s Principle in elasticity  has its over 100 year’s history. Boussinesq  and Love  announced general statements of Saint-Venant’s Principe. The early authors made  important contribution to the principle. Zanaboni “proved” a theorem trying to concern Saint-Venant’s Principle, but in the present paper we will prove that Zanaboni’s theorem is false.

Sequence loads

Hi everybody

I want to ask you regarding the general pattern of diagram da/dn Vs. DeltaK(stress intensity factor) for Variable amplitude loading? Could we share our knowleadge in this case?

Lie Derivative, Deformation Rate, Velocity Gradient

I'm trying to understand elastic deformation using the Lie derivative. I've read a good summary on Wiki but want other sources to review. Can anyone offer any sources &/or explanations. I need something fairly basic. Thanks, John.
