SIMULATION OF WELDING

HI all

I am trying to carry out a project which is related to simulation of welding in ANSYS,could anyone help me how to use GUASS or GOLDAK functions in ANSYS?or how to write user define function in ANSYS?

dear afsaneh

u must go thru 3 review papers from Prof Lars Erik Lindgren before you actaully start working with ansys, the paper are named welding simulation part 1 ,2 and 3 and you can get them easi;y if u have access to sciencedirect.com

these papers can really hep you in preparing ur ansys model

Hello,

I'm a PhD student from Romania, and i have to study laser cladding, but in order to get a general ideea about welding and welding related FEM models i tried to download the 3 papers that you cited earlier, but they are not avaiable on science direct. If you can, please send me an email with the 3 papers at adrian.pavalache@gmail.com

thank you very much

dear hfawad

I am so thankful for your advise, could I ask you any questions later I mean when I read those mentioned papers?

I'm a masters student at mokpo national university in south korea. I'm doing welding simulation using ansys. could any1 help me, how to do welding modeling and analysis on ansys. esp. using GOLDAK functions.

Dear Reenal,

I have done my PhD in Computational Weld Mechanics. Please email me ur project details so that i may guide u. My email address is: qureshimeq@yahoo.com

sir,
in hybrid Laser arc welding we use laser source along with arc source
in this simulation we have to use gaussian source equation for laser power and double ellipsoid heat flux distribution proposed by goldak for arc welding
so please explain me that this problem will be solved by explicit or implicit  methods
can we simulate it in ansys software

Hi,

Of course this can be done easily in ANSYS. As I am sure you use APDL, have a look at the commands BFE, ESEL, *GET, and general flowcontrol. Query element centroid, use this as input in your distribution function and apply heat flux via BFE. Preselecting a cuboid and looping over this set for body force application simplifies the task a little, as you will need to specify an outer border (in asymptotic funtions) anyhow.

Robert

Respected Sir,
I am the student of NIT Agartala, India. Doing project work in the field of welding for simulation of temperature field in Ansys. I am new user to ansys, I don’t know lot about ansys. Sir, please can you provide me the suggestions to develop the heat source model with Gaussian type of heat source. I developed the model, but it not working.

Thanks and regards

Dear sir,

I am Ashok A B pursuing M.Tech in "Engineering Analysis and Design" at SDM college of engineering and technology, Dharwad. under Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum.
I am working on " Evaluation of Welding Residual Stress And Distortion " for my M.Tech thesis and i got to know about work through this http://imechanica.org/.I hope you have already completed your project, please can you suggest me how to procede with ANSYS to carry out welding simulations regarding how to calculate Residual stresses ane distortion.

Waiting for your positive reply.

Thanks and regards,

Dear  adrian

Your research work pertaining to Laser Cladding will be of interest to me. If u rstill working on the research, we may share some fruitful ideas.

HI all

I am trying to carry overlay welding simulation for residual stress in pipe. I have written the code for thermal analysis. but it give the error; about element type. can any one help in which element type is best to use for 3-D pipe thermal analysis..

regards.

I have taken Solid70 element for plates in Ansys for thermal analysis.

Hi reenal

you can find the right element type easily in literature review.you can search for (((finding residual stresses for  dissimilar pipes,,,satarifar))).you will find the right elemnts for your thermal and structural side of the problem.

I AM DOING MY PROJECT ON NUMERICAL SIMULATION OF THE HYBRID LASER ARC WELDING

IN THIS SIMULATION THERE ARE TWO HEAT SOURCES LASER AND ARC HEAT SOURCE

CAN ANYONE PLEASE HELP ME ABOUT APDL FOR MOVING HEAT SOURCE IN ANSYS

IT WILL BE GREAT HELP TO ME

in this paper you can see laser welding simulation with ANSYS. if you cant download this, contact me.

Dear all,

I am getting an improper temperatute distribution during arc welding process of a single passed butt joint (100 x 200 x 10 mm)with the parameters V=27.5 volt, I= 650 A, η=0.9, r=.006m (Characteristic radial dimensional distribution parameter that defines the region in which 95 ./. of heat flux is deposited). I have taken the gaussian distribution of heat flux. I am getting around 19000  oc on the top of the weld bead at front face and getting around 1700  oc at the weld line at back face. I have used SOLID70 for thermal analysis. I have used the function parameter to define the Gaussian heat flux equation and used the cylindrical coordinate (type-1) to define a local coordinate system to apply the gaussian flux and move along with the welding line. i have done my modelling in GUI mode. The element size has been taken 2 mm along weld line and thickness direction. The proper temperature distribution for this alalysis is around 2500  oc at top face and around 1500 oc at bottom face at the weld line (Thermomechanical finite element analysis and experimental investigation of single-pass single-sided submerged arc welding of C-Mn steel plates, P. Biswas et all).

Can anyone please help me.

hi every body

i have specific heat and latent heat data of a material

how can i model material with enthalpy in ansys?

meanwhile  i dont have the temperature which enthalpy is zero

Hi Guys,

Would you please send me any tutorial regarding laser heat source movement in ABAQUS or ANSYS workbench.

I highly appreciate your help in advance.

You can e-mail me on: afshin.melbourne@yahoo.com

Hello

log on to the ABAQUS mailing list
http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/Abaqus/
and search the forum archive for the terms "laser", "welding" and "(moving) heat source".

Also search for DFLUX. Moving heat sources can be modeled using the subroutine DFLUX.
