Research Studentship (PhD) in Computational Material Science: the topic is computational nano mechanics and concurrent multiscale methods for composites under impact loading.

The successful candidate will work under my supervision and will focus on coupling various length-scales mechanics (molecular dynamics-quasicontinuum-continuum) of nanoscale reinforcements of a polymeric matrix, with emphasis on their fracture properties.
The successful candidate will have to opportunity to work in a stimulating environment and a fast growing school, with expertise in Biomedical Engineering and Materials, Functional Materials and Modelling and Simulation in Engineering Systems.
The student is expected to develop computer codes in C/Fortran95 and proficiency in any of these languages is an essential requirement, along with experience in coding finite element methods.

Experience in coding PDE solvers with other discretization methods (particularly meshfree) or experience in programming/using molecular dynamics software will be highly desirable.

Candidates must have (or expect to have shortly) a good degree in engineering, physics, mathematics, chemistry, or related disciplines.

Strong communication skills (both written and oral) and a keen interest in the project topic are essential. The studentship is available for EU students only.

For informal enquiries, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Dear Dr.

Would you please provide me your email?

Thank you.

Regards

Behnam

I find this project very interesting... i studied mechanics in TU Darmstadt, Germany,  but i will finish my studies in july, 2013, because im writing my

master thesis (reserach single lap joint by means of XFEM )

i have a very good background in mathematics and mechanics, and FEM,  and a strong interest in composite materials, i ve developed a subroutine(using Fortran) to overcome the limitation of XFEM(do not work by multimaterial cracking) in Abaqus(mesh free method). i also have experience with Python language.

i can good english both speaking and writing, but i dont have any certification.

if you re interested in me, please contact me. my email : zsc13810288137@hotmail.com

Best Regards

Senchuan Zhang
