I am organizing a symposium entitled "Recent Advances in Mechanics of Composite Materials" at the International Conference on Computational and Experimental Engineering and Science (ICCES). Invited plenary speakers of this conference include Suresh (MIT), Majumdar (UC Berkeley), Achenbach and Belytschko (Northwestern University) and more -check the conference website for more details (http://icces.org/cgi-bin/ices08/pages/index). The Conference Hotel is the Marriott Resort & Spa in Wikiki, which is very close to famous Wikiki beach, and its rate is only $149/night (single or double occupancy) in a typical spring break season. This symposium covers many areas such as computational mechanics , durability and failure, dynamic response, nanocomposite materials , biocomposites, interfaces and adhesive bonding, mechanics on multi-scales, structural health monitoring and NDE etc.
