You can apply the axial load either as

1. Solution>Define loads>Apply>pressure on lines, by selecting the lines on which pressure is to be applied.

2.Solution>Define loads>Apply>Force>on nodes, by selecting the nodes attached to the end line

I am using element shell 63 for modeling.
