Optimal Nodal Locations in Mesh Free Methods

How random should be the distribution of nodes in element free galerkin method?

How can we decide if a given nodal distribution is optimal discretization? In case we are using moving integration sub domains of varying sizes and if the patches may or may not overlap, will we not get some equilbrium errors between patches?

As regards nodal integration - the nodal energy must be evaluated by integrating the SED in the volume around the node, so that it accounts for area between nodes.- is this not similar to finite element derivative jumps?
