NSF Sponsored Workshop on Biomechanical Imaging at RPI

Rensselaer's Inverse Problems Center (IPRPI) will be hosting a workshop on Biomechanical Imaging on April 27th and 28th organized by MANE Associate Professor Assad Oberai. The registration for this workshop is free and funds for travel and local stay are available for attendees.

Biomechanical imaging is a collection of new and exciting imaging techniques that lead to the generation of in-vivo images of the mechanical properties of tissue via the solution of challenging inverse problems. These techniques find applications in the detection and diagnosis of cancer and diseases such as atherosclerosis and liver cirrhosis. They also find applications in developing patient-scpecific mechanical models for surgical planning and in mechanobiological studies. The workshop will feature invited talks by six leading scientists who will describe new experimental breakthroughs in this area, and tutorials by RPI faculty on the underlying inverse problems.
