What is RSS feed?
Really Simple Syndication, better known as RSS feed, updates posts and comments on your computer. To read RSS feeds, you will need to set up a feed reader. Here is a video called "RSS in Plain English" that explains how it works.

Set up a feed reader in 1 minute
A free, considered by some the best, feed reader is Netvibes. To set it up, go to http://www.netvibes.com/, and sign up. Bookmark this site.

Subscribe to a feed

1. Click "Add Content" at the upper-left corner.
2. Click "Add my feed" at the top of the sidebar on the left. A box appears.
3. Paste into the box this address http://imechanica.org/rss.xml. Click "add".

You have just subscribed to the front page of iMechanica. Follow the same procedure, you can also subscribe to comments on all posts, http://imechanica.org/crss. You can also learn how to create your own feeds

• Google Reader has become an excellent RSS feed reader.
• You can also receive emails of posts and comments of a type that you specify.

How to find RSS feeds?
For example, click research in the header of iMechanica, and you will see recent papers characterized by their authors by the tag research. At the bottom of this page, you will see the orange icon . Click the icon on that page, you land on an unsightful site. Ignore the sight, and copy the URL of the site.

To find RSS feeds of web sites other than iMechanica, you can Google. For example, type in the search window the string: new york times RSS. Hit return and watch what happens.
