Abaqus - Crash test

Hello,

I am a French student in "Prépa" et I have to imitate a crash test with Abaqus, a software which I am discrovering with this work. I begin with a very simplified model. I ceated 2 parts with Abaqus :

- the first, a simplified model of a bumper in steel (imported from SolidWork, Deformable, shell),

- the second, a plate in steel (Discrete rigid, shell, planar).

Is a good beginning ?

Because, at the end, whenI submit the job, any parts move whereas I gave to the bumper an initial speed (17m/s). My goal is to see the distortions on my bumper.

Could you help me ?

PS : Sorry for my english. :S

EricWe usually assume that the bumper and plate are deformable. In special cases, bumper is rigid and plate is assumed deformable. If you assume plate as rigid, maybe your bumper returns back after the impact and this is not a realistic simulation. BTW if you are sure about your initial assumptions, you should check your boundary conditions in edges of the target plate and give your step sufficient time that bumper reaches the plate.

hello Ms Eric .I think that you forget some trhing in the step. or your boundary conditions are not clear .so ; if you can sent me your model and I will try to do it

Hello,

Indeed reza00747, there was a problem of time among others. I changed it, and now, my bumper returns back after the impact.

I made an other trial. I changed my initial assumptions :

-a simplified model of a bumper in steel (imported from SolidWork, Deformable, shell),

- a plate in steel (Analytical rigid, extruded shell).

This time, I give to my plate an initial speed. When I submit the job, the plate moves toward the bumper and when it reaches the bumper, it doesn't move anymore and the dumper doesn't lose its shape.

But the best would be that it is the bumper which moves toward the plate and it loses its shape.

@aminemino : How can I send you my file ?

Thank you for your helps. :)

Hello, I succeeded in seeying a model of a real bumper loses its shape, but the distortion is unusual ...

Could someone help me please ? Giving me his (her) email in order to receive my Abaqus file (.cae).

send me CAE and INP to: m.reza.mousavi@gmail.com

It's done, thanks a lot !
