Siemens internship opportunity in computational solid mechanics
Siemens Corporate Research (SCR), a division of Siemens Corporation, located in Princeton, New Jersey (USA) is Siemens' largest research center outside of Europe. SCR excels in transferring academic research into innovative products, and works in close collaboration with clinical and industrial partners. With more than 250 scientists, engineers, and technical experts, the company helps its customers and strategic partners grow their businesses in the fields of healthcare, automation, production, energy, industry, information and communications.
SCR has an immediate student internship opening in the area of computational solid mechanics with a focus on cardiovascular and orthopedic applications. A PhD or MS student with related R&D experience is preferred. The duration of internship is preferably 3-6 months. According to the progress, publications will be submitted and patents will be filed.
The ideal candidate will have a strong theoretical and computational background on solid mechanics (in particular elasticity and/or plasticity), and the awareness of the state-of-the-art. Experience with commecial packages is not required. But he/she is expected to be able to translate the theory into working codes using finite element method in C/C++ or Fortran.
