Postdoctoral Position in Experimental Biomechanics
The Soft Materials Mechanics Laboratory
and the Glaucoma Center of Excellence invite applications for a postdoctoral
position in the area of experimental biomechanics to characterize the mechanical
behavior of eye tissues, particularly the sclera and optic nerve head, in mouse
models of glaucoma. The postdoctoral researcher will be involved in a funded
project aimed at understanding how the structure and mechanical behavior of the
sclera and may influence the development and progression of glaucoma. An
initial appointment will be for a 12-month period with future renewal contingent
on performance. Salary will be based on the level of experience. Review of
applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is
filled. The start date is negotiable.
Qualifications:
The candidate is required to have a Ph.D.
in Mechanical Engineering, Bioengineering, or a related field. The successful candidate must have
experience in developing and conducting mechanical experiments on soft tissues. Experience with digital image
correlation or digital volume correlation is desirable. All candidates should
have excellent verbal and written communication skills, a strong publication
record, and the ability and motivation to work independently. Researchers are
expected to collaborate with internal investigators, and participate in the
preparation of manuscripts, grants, and presentations.
To apply, please submit a complete curriculum vitae, representative
