Full time position with ANSYS Inc (Houston, TX)

ANSYS, Inc. has an immediate job opening in Houston, TX for a Technical Services Engineer.  This is a full time position.

The job entails providing advanced technical guidance on various aspects of computational Structural Mechanics to clients in industry and academia.

The position requires excellent theoretical fundamentals and experience with numerical simulations & scripting, in the area(s) of non-linear problems, buckling and collapse,
plasticity, fracture mechanics, large deformations, contacts, ... along with capacity to "boil down" complex problems into practical engineering solutions and implement numerical models.

 

Job Summary:

The Technical Service Engineer will proactively consult with ANSYS customers, playing a lead role in supporting important accounts with significant impact on revenues
for software and value-added consulting services.  

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide technical support to software customers to ensure their successful use of ANSYS products
  • Contribute to advanced technical guidance on structural mechanics, non-linear phenomena, fracture, rock/soil mechanics, and multidisciplinary applications
  • Engage in advanced consulting services: meet with customers, prepare project budgets, author proposals, execute the work
  • Assist Sales and Marketing units in sales campaigns and strategic market development
  • Train customers on how to use ANSYS software
  • Engage in software testing
  • Develop and strengthen long-term relationships with customers
  • Other job related duties may be assigned by management from time to time

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • PhD degree in Mechanical, Petroleum, Material/Civil Engineering or related field
  • 4 years experience in use of ANSYS Mechanical software, or other commercial FEA software for Structural Mechanics
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills and ability to implement numerical models to obtain practical engineering solutions to difficult problems
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and to communicate effectively
  • Experience with multi-disciplinary simulation is a plus
  • Knowledge of other commercial CAE software packages is a plus
  • Experience in the use of CAD packages (such as Pro/Engineer. Solidworks) is a plus
  • Experience working collaboratively with sales and marketing personnel is a plus
  • Must display ability to work independently, as well as with others in a geographically diverse team environment
  • Must have excellent verbal and written English skills
  • Must have excellent presentation skills
  • Available for consistent travel throughout the Southern region and occasionally in the rest of the North American sub-regions
  • U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident is preferred due to access restrictions at customer and prospect sites
