FEM modelling of braided composites

I am doing simulation of fiber reinforced composites, for that I have modelled a cubic REV. However , when I am constraining the opposite faces' node displacement sum to be 0 and coupling the nodes in each face in the direction perpendicular to the area, ANSYS is coming out . I have tried this on i7 processor with 8GB RAM system. I am confused if its a RAM problem or a model problem. If there are too many constraints if I apply coupling as well as constraint???

I think the problem may be caused by over-constraint. You could have a try to use the constrain such as Equation. And if convert the ANSYS model to ABAQUS model, I will help you check out the problem. I'm an advanced application engineer of Abaqus China.

I do not have abaqus, would it be possible for you to help me out if I provide the APDL code of the modelling. To find Exx I have contrained the nodes of Y=0 and Y=L plane as->

uy(y=0 plane)+uy(y=L plane)=0;

similarly with planes in z direction. After these constrained equations I have coupled the nodes of all six planes, such that all plane remains plane. That is displacements of nodes on a particular area along the normal to the plane is same for all nodes. Do all this coupling and constrained equations make it over constrained?

The effort of coupling and equation should be the reason leading to over
constrain.

If you can provide the APDL code, I will try to check the problems in ANSYS
or in ABAQUS.
