Postdoc or Research Associate opening on bi-metallic friction stir welding joining at Texas A&M university at Qatar
The work involves working independently and collaboratively on: Identifying processing parameters that will optimize the properties of the bi-metallic joint, developing a material constitutive model for impact loading conditions, developing an experimentally validated numerical model the can be used to predict the joint performance under impact loading conditions, and developing design and processing guidelines for the bimetallic joints.
This position is not located in the united states. Must be willing to relocate to Doha, Qatar. This position is funded by Research and Graduate Studies as part of the Mechanical Engineering Program at Texas A&M University at Qatar.The benefit package includes a salary around 39000 USD for postdoc and 30000 USD for research associate per year tax free, a full furnished house free of charge, a worldwide health insurance, a car allowance and a travelling allowance.
Position requirements: Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, or closely related field, or a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical engineering, or closely related field and three years of experience in education, scientific research, operational, managerial or experimental work. Excellent oral and written communication skills in English, the ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others in a diverse population. Laboratory experience in mechanical testing of materials and microstructural characterization. Experience in finite element modeling and testing of light alloys is highly desirable.
