KTP Associate. Finite element analysis.

Are you a graduate or post graduate with an interest in Finite Element Analysis?  Would you like to turn this into a career opportunity?  

THE ROLE:We are looking to appoint a well organised, highly motivated individual to take the lead role in a project to develop finite element approaches for simulating soil-structure interaction and related problems.  The post is a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP), a shared venture between Cardiff University and LUSAS.  LUSAS is an independent company that develops and sells the LUSAS finite element software suite for engineering analysis, which is used internationally and by the top 20 civil engineering consultancies in the UK.  

BENEFITS:    £6,000 Training budget, £6,750 Travel budget, Opportunity to progress on to a higher degree 

THE PERSON:You will have recently qualified with a 2:1 or 1st Class Honours Degree in Civil Engineering or other numerate subject and preferably gained an MSc or PhD in finite element research or a related numerical discipline.  You must have an aptitude for numerical methods and computer programming. Strong problem solving skills are also essential. You should have good communication skills, be able to work well in a team and be capable of taking ownership of this project.   

KNOWLEDGE TRANSFER PARTNERSHIPS:The role of a KTP Associate is to manage a high profile, strategic project for a company, whilst being supported by a dedicated University.  As an Associate you will provide the bridge between the Company and the University to transfer knowledge and skills.  You will be employed by Cardiff University but will be located at the Company in Kingston upon Thames. Some travel will be required between Cardiff and LUSAS in order to develop and manage the project.
