Dear Colleagues,

As part of the 50th Annual Technical meeting of the Society of Engineering Science   (SES 2012)/ASME-AMD Summer Meeting to be held in Brown University on July 28-31, 2013, it is our pleasure to invite you to submit an abstract to the Symposium “Material Design and Biomimetic Material Concepts”.

Novel engineering problems ask for new material solutions. Engineering science principles can be used to develop such novel materials and material systems. Biomimetic materials are materials developed using inspiration from nature, and often serve as the motivation for new material designs. The symposium seeks to facilitate the exchange of ideas and the discussion on developments that address such questions. We encourage contributions addressing to a wider range of topics, for example on the design of novel composite materials, cellular materials, or material structures. We also seek contributions with focus on natural materials and structures, especially those that would lead to further development of engineering materials and material systems

We would like to invite you, or someone in your group, to submit an abstract. The abstracts can be submitted online after creating a personal account at http://www.brown.edu/Conference/ses2013/abstract_submission.htm . The deadline for the on-line submission April 1st, 2013.

If you have any question or need any information do not hesitate to contact us. For more information you can visit the meeting web site http://www.brown.edu/Conference/ses2013/
We look forward to seeing you at SES in July!

Best wishes
