A group at Politecnico di BARI, led by Dr. Giovanni Campa and Prof. Sergio Camporeale, were awarded the honors of the "Finmeccanica Innovation Award", established in 2004 to develop new ideas and technology projects developed by employees of the Finmeccanica Group. The award is of international concern because it is currently the main source of patents for Finmeccanica and over the years he has collected 22,000 innovative proposals that have given rise to more than 7,500 projects, transformed later in patent applications. The latest edition of the award saw the participation of 1,000 projects, of which 601 presented by employees and 399 Italian colleagues of the Group's foreign offices.

Among the companies awarded Ansaldo Energia is, for the presentation of the project entitled "Helmholtz resonator for gas turbine burner" for the following reasons: The proposed technology is based on the placement of resonant cavities, called just Helmholtz resonators, all 'interior of burners for gas turbines, which thus become more efficient, sustainable and flexible in operational terms.
