Applying Periodic Boundary Conditions(PBC) in Abaqus
Thu, 2014-03-20 23:55 - bernad
Hi all,
I am looking for some reference on procedures for applying PBC in abaqus? I coud find some journal articles for the equation, but I am unaware of applying this into Abaqus under displacement laoding conditions..
any help in this regard would be appreciated greatly..
Thanks,
Bernad

Dear bernadI'm working
Dear bernad
I'm working on multiscale modeling analysis usingg abaqus like you and i'm also beginner in abaqus but during my researches i found the way that the PBS ca nbe implemented in abaqus. af first you should define some sets of the boundary nodes from toos menu-> set->creat. then you should use the constraint menu and create constraine eqation between the corresponding nodes. for this purpose go to interaction module the use constraint menu-> create constraint and then select " Equation ". In the open dialoge you can implement any linear relation between selected nodes displacement!!!!
Dear Afallah,
Dear
Afallah,
Thanks for your reply and I could
understand the basic steps in Abaqus for applying the PBC. However, I am
unaware of the constraint equation, incase of displacement control loading. The
constrain equation will have three components and third is just a constant (for
instance, Ax-Bx=0.004). In this case, I need to use dummy node, If am right.
Next, I would also like to know, can the constraint equation be applied for
two node sets corresponding to parallel surfaces? Because it can save lot of
time in comparison to constraint each node pair.
Thanks,
Bernad

Dear Bernard
Dear Bernard,
i am trying to apply PBC in a 2D RVE and having the same question that 'instead of
constraining each node pair in the opposite side can we just make a Node set and apply boundary
condition on that set'.
so what did you do with your problem ?
