Multiscale Material Modelling

Mirkhalaf's picture

Computational modelling of materials behaviour
is becoming a reliable tool to underpin scientific investigations and to
complement traditional theoretical and experimental approaches. In cases where
an understanding of the dual nature of the structure of matter (continuous when
viewed at large length scales and discrete when viewed at smaller length scales) and
its interdependences are crucial, multiscale materials modelling (MMM)
approaches are required to complement continuum and atomistic analyses methods. My colleagues and I recently did a reserach on multiscale modelling of polymeric materials using both Molecular Dynamics (MD) and Finite Element Method (FEM). The output of the research was published entitled as "Predicting  the  mechanical  behavior  of amorphous  polymeric materials  under  strain  through  multi-scale  simulation".
