What happens when an engineer submits a paper to a physics journal

I believe many of us went through that kind of ostracism. Now, I will provide a concrete argument. This is the reply we received when we responded our paper was indeed of interest to the Physics community, which was first raised as an issue by the editor. We provided a very detailed explanation.

So when they run out of valuable arguments, all they can produce is this pathetic statement below.

The question is more fundamental. Why do we, as mechanicians always welcome papers from physicists, while the reciprocal is far from being obvious?

After careful consideration we have decided to sustain our decision to

reject your manuscript without external review. Despite our

interdisciplinary nature PRB is trying to tighten its scope as

outlined in our recent editorial, please see

http://prb.aps.org/edannounce/PhysRevB.87.170001 for details. Every

successful journal defines a community and in turn is defined by its

community. A quick look over the bibliography included in the

manuscript suggests that a material oriented journal would be a much

better venue for this work.

Despite the negative decision in this case we encourage you to send us

your best future work.
