The American Academy of Mechanics (AAM)

As a member society of the U.S. National Committee on Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (USNC/TAM) , the objective of the American Academy of Mechanics (AAM) is the advancement of the science and profession of mechanics.

The scope of AAM includes all of the disciplines involved in the modeling and study of the response of inanimate and animate matter to forces and environmental effects.

Here is a message from the President of the Academy (2005): Why should one join AAM?

Persons having a permanent resisdence in one of the countries of South, Central, or North America, recognized for their contributions to the science and profession of mechanics as judged by objective criteria and without regard to race, color, creed, gender, and national origin, are eligible to become Members.

Graduate students registered at a university of recognized standing are eligible to become Student Members.

Persons meeting all the requirements, except that of residency, are eligible to become Corresponding Members.
