Applications for a postdoctoral Research Associate are invited for an EPSRC-funded interdisciplinary project – “A New Frontier in Design: The Simulation of Open Engineered Biological Systems”. Newcastle University is one of only five UK Universities successful in obtaining a prestigious EPSRC Frontier Engineering award.
Within this ambitious multidisciplinary project, the research will focus on the experimental characterisation of biomechanical properties for biofilms and bacteria aggregates, and the influence of the environment on the mechanical and biological properties of such systems.
You should have a PhD in the field of biomechanics, microfluidics, or other related engineering disciplines. You should be an experienced researcher and a specialist in biophysics or mechanics of living matter. The ability to work well within an interdisciplinary team is essential.
Tenable for 2 years in the first instance.
Informal enquiries are welcome and should be made to Dr Jinju Chen (jinju.chen@ncl.ac.uk).
