Postdoc position opening: modeling 3D-printed materials and structures

                A postdoctoral position is available immediately in the computational mechanics group of Professor Albert To at University of Pittsburgh.  The position is in the modeling of additive manufactured (3D printed) metals and lattice structures and is for one year with possible extension to two years upon satisfactory performance.  The applicant is required to have a doctoral degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field at the time of appointment.  The applicant must also have strong computer skills and be experienced in materials modeling using ANSYS or ABAQUS.  Other desirable (but not essential) skills include: 

1) Mechanical testing skills,

2) knowledge about fatigue, shock impact, and the associated microstructure-property relationship,

3) experience in 3D printer operation. 

Besides conducting research, successful candidate is also expected to help prepare proposals and reports to funding agency.  Interested individual should send a copy of CV to Professor Albert To (albertto@pitt.edu).
