Aerospace Structures Faculty Position, San Diego State University

The Department of Aerospace Engineering and Engineering Mechanics invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level.  Applicants must have an earned PhD in Aerospace Engineering or a closely related field with a specialization in aerospace structures and/or structural dynamics. Candidates with expertise in one or more of the following areas: composites, aeroelasticity, light-weight structures, smart adaptive structures, multifunctional structures, and UAV design, will be given preference.  Faculty members, in addition to developing a successful research program and teaching graduate courses in their specialization, are also expected to teach undergraduate level aerospace engineering courses.  Recent graduates as well as those with industrial or university experience are welcomed.  The department offers the BS and MS degrees in Aerospace Engineering and participates in the Joint Doctoral Program in Engineering Science/Applied Mechanics with UCSD.  Southern California offers exceptional opportunities for industrial research partnerships with its extensive aerospace industry.  Additional information about the university and the department may be obtained at http://www.sdsu.edu and http://engineering.sdsu.edu/aerospace .  Initial review of applications begins December 15, 2007, and will continue until the position is filled.  Expected start date is August 2008.  Applicants should send a detailed resume, a brief statement of research and teaching interests, three recent publications and complete contact information for three references to:
