IUTAM Symposium on Mechanics of Stretchable Electronics March 17-18, 2016

Recently developed materials and mechanics concepts yield stretchable electronics, which has changed the way that people think about possibilities in the area of electronics and enabled many novel applications. These stretchable electronics will be subject to large, repeated deformation during manufacturing and service.  All these post significant challenges to the functionality and reliability of stretchable electronic devices. Mechanics has been playing key roles in the design of stretchable electronics by identifying the underlying deformation mechanism and establishing design guidelines for experiments/fabrication to avoid time-consuming and expensive trial and error methods.

In order to forge interactions among active researchers in the area of stretchable electronics, we are organizing a two-day IUTAM Symposium on Mechanics of Stretchable Electronics on March 17-18, 2016 in Hangzhou, China.  We have invited 16 speakers (such as John Rogers, Ray Baughman, Yonggang Huang, Jan Vanfleteren, Xuanhe Zhao, Nanshu Lu, Dae-Hyeong Kim, Xue Feng etc) from different aspects in the area of stretchable electronics and you are welcome to join this event.  More details about the sympium can be found at http://iutam2016.zju.edu.cn/
