Two postdoc positions at Singapore University of Technology and Design

Our group has postdoctoral position openings supported by Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD)-Digital Manufacturing and Design (DManD) Centre for the projects of design and fabrication of soft robotics, and nano/micro fabrication.

We are seeking self-motivated postdoctoral researchers with a strong background on solid mechanics and FEA simulation, and hands-on experience in advanced manufacturing, 3D/4D printing, material preparation and characterization.

For the project of design and fabrication of soft robotics, the successful candidate is required to have:

1.Ph.D. in Solid Mechanics, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering and other related fields.

2.Experience in FEA simulation using ABAQUS with nonlinear soft materials;

3.Experience in soft robot design is preferred;

4.Experience in soft machine manufacturing is preferred;

For the project of nano/micro fabrication, the successful candidate is required to have:

1.Ph.D. in Solid Mechanics, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering and other related fields.

2.Experience in FEA simulation using ABAQUS with viscoelastic materials;

3.Experience in implementing User Material Subroutine (UMAT) into ABAQUS is preferred;

4.Experience in polymer characterization, such as DMA, stress relaxation, is preferred.

Monthly Salary: S$ 5,000 - S$5,500

Introduction to SUTD and DManD centre:

The Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) is Singapore’s fourth public university, and one of the first universities in the world to incorporate the art and science of design and technology into a multi-disciplinary curriculum. Established in collaboration with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) since 2009, SUTD seeks to nurture technically-grounded leaders and innovators in engineering product development, engineering systems and design, information systems technology and design, and architecture and sustainable design, to serve societal needs.

The University, also in collaboration with Zhejiang University (ZJU) and Singapore Management University (SMU), is distinguished by its unique East and West academic programmes which incorporate elements of technology, entrepreneurship, management and design thinking.

The Digital Manufacturing and Design (DManD) Centre – the Centre will create the  frontiers  of  digital design and manufacturing by bringing together new ideas and state-of-the-art methods in computational and engineering sciences, industrial engineering, architecture, and the humanities, arts, and social sciences. The Centre will pursue technology advances along many fronts and bring them together within a new cyberphysical manufacturing testbed that will facilitate demonstration of design and manufacturing innovations and their rapid exploitation, as well as serve as a unique platform for research.
