Postdoctoral fellowships in computational mechanics

Applications are invited for two postdoctoral fellowships, attached to the South African Research Chair in Computational Mechanics at the University of Cape Town, South Africa. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in one or more of the following areas: finite element methods for GPUs; preconditioned solvers in nonlinear mechanics; operator-splitting methods for coupled problems.

Eligible applicants must hold a PhD in computational mechanics or a related discipline. The PhD degree must have been granted within the last five years, or have been submitted for examination. In the latter case evidence to this effect must be provided. Applicants may not previously have held any permanent academic or professional posts.

The Fellowship is awarded for one year and is renewable for a second year, contingent on satisfactory progress in achieving the research goals, and subject to the availability of funds.

Qualified candidates are required to provide the following: a letter of application expressing research interests and expertise; certified copies of all academic transcripts; a full resume, including details of publications; and names and addresses of two academic referees with whom the applicant has worked.

Applications must be submitted electronically to Professor Daya Reddy (daya.reddy@uct.ac.za) by no later than Monday 20 June 2016. Enquiries about the positions may also be directed to this email address.
