Ph.D. Student Positions in Computational Mechanics and Mechanics of Materials

Computational Mechanics Research Laboratory (CMRL)

Director: Dr. Somnath Ghosh

Michael G. Callas Chair Professor

Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore Maryland

The Computational Mechanics Research Laboratory (http://cmrl.jhu.edu/) at Johns Hopkins University is soliciting applications from outstanding candidates for Ph.D. student position in Computational Mechanics of Materials and Integrated Computational Materials Engineering (ICME), to work in multiple fields of Mechanics including multiple scale modeling of mechanical-electro-magnetic phenomena, fatigue and life prediction of metals and composites, brittle and ductile failure, molecular dynamics modeling, probabilistic methods, novel finite element model development, etc. CMRL is also the host of a major national center CEIMM based on ICME and MGI concepts and http://ceimm.jhu.edu/.

Ph.D. Candidates must have a strong background and interest in computational solid mechanics, physical sciences and mathematics and computational engineering & sciences. Interest in computational modeling and code development is necessary. The researchers will be working with Prof. Somnath Ghosh at Johns Hopkins University (http://cmrl.jhu.edu/prof_somnath_ghosh.html) on a variety of projects funded by government and industry. Details can be found at http://cmrl.jhu.edu/ and http://ceimm.jhu.edu/.
