PhD position at Binghamton University on additive manufacturing

A funded PhD position is available at the department of mechanical engineering in Binghamton University starting from Jan. 1st or Sep. 1st, 2018.  Current topics of interest include: 1) mechanics of additive manufactured materials for biomedical usage; 2) optimal design/fabrication of 3D printed composite structures. The lab is equipped with the state-of-the-art 3D printers like EOS M290, Objet PolyJet, Stratasys FDM, MarkForged, etc. and new machines are upon ordering.

Master/bachelor students in the fields of mechanics, mechanical, material engineering, civil engineering, and related subjects are welcome to apply. The ideal candidate is expected to have expertise in either solid mechanics or mechatronics. Previous research experience in additive manufacturing is desirable but not mandatory. The application deadline is Oct. 15th for the spring semester (https://www.binghamton.edu/grad-school/admissions/apply/).
