Postdoc in small-scale mechanical behavior of materials

The Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Texas A&M University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to work with Professor George M. Pharr to build a new small-scale mechanical testing laboratory and use it in fundamental research programs related to nanoindentation and small-scale mechanical behavior of materials.

The successful candidate should have a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline; significant experience in mechanical testing, ideally at small-scales; general interests and expertise in experimental studies that focus on the mechanisms of deformation and fracture in solids; and strong verbal and written communication skills. Experience with scanning electron microscopy, focused ion beam milling, and/or high temperature mechanical testing is desirable.
