Research Associate (Postdoctoral Researcher) in Xiaodong(Chris) Li's Lab at the University of Virginia

The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering in the School of Engineering and Applied Science at the University of Virginia seeks candidates for a Research Associate position to assist in the development of low-cost carbon fiber techniques in Professor Xiaodong (Chris) Li's lab.

A PhD in Mechanical Engineering or related field is required by the start date of the position. The successful candidate will have a background in materials science, carbon fiber/carbon materials/materials synthesis research. Experience with materials synthesis and characterization, and mechanical characterization techniques, including but not limited to scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, atomic force microscopy, and X-ray diffraction as well as mechanical testing techniques, including but not limited to tension/compression testing and indentation is required. The candidate shall be expected to research, develop, manufacture, and demonstrate carbon fiber precursor technology and processing techniques.
