"Multiphysics & Multiscale Modeling" for Ceramic Matrix Composites

The Institute of Test and Simulation for Gas Turbines within the Organization of the German Aerospace Center (DLR) is focused on new aeroengine technologies through coupling of numerical and experimental processes to enable the validation of new innovative solutions. Challenging for new aeroengine technologies are the higher rotational speeds, higher temperatures, high pressure ratios and the corresponding complex, transient load scenarios in combination with the increased demand for extended lifetime of all components and systems.

Within in the group of Multiphysics and Multiscale Modeling at the institute, our aim is to develop the state-of-the-art theoretical and computational methods for an accurate lifetime prediction of advanced materials under coupled chemo-thermo-mechanical loads. The simulation results at different length scales (grain level, polycrystal or full structure) will be validated with the corresponding experiments.

An open position for a scientific employee exists within the institute with a focus on Ceramic Matrix Composites. Interested applicants are requested to find more information and apply at the following link.
