Composite Materials & Dynamics Laboratory (http://cmdl.missouri.edu/) at University of Missouri develops innovative solutions for Solid Mechanics and Structured Materials, in particular the new frontiers of structural dynamics, wave propagation, micromechanics, topological and quantum mechanics, smart materials and dynamical behaviours of multi-functional materials, both man-made and formed naturally, and understanding relationship between microstructures and material macroscopic properties.

We seek exceptional postdoc scientists to work closely with our research group on exciting research in architecture materials, elastic/acoustic metamaterials for manipulating acoustic/elastic wave propagation, mechanical energy and topological applications.

Essential Duties:

As a member of the world-class research team, she/he will:

·       Participate in leading-edge research involving dynamic modeling of architecture or microstructure material for elastic/acoustic wave steering and control;

·       Modeling and characterization of modulated metamaterials and degenerate materials;

·       Develop active and passive metamaterial for non-reciprocal wave propagation and topological insulators.

Required qualifications include:

·       PhD in an area related to structure dynamics, acoustic/elastic metamaterials or a related field;

·       Solid background of solid mechanics, micromechanics, nonlinear and multiscale modeling;

·       Expertise in ANSYS, COMSOL and other numerical simulations;

·       Experimental experience is a plus.

 Application:

Applications arriving before March 15, 2018 will receive full considerations, but the search will continue until the positions are filled. Interested individuals should send a detailed resume with names, addresses, and telephone numbers of at least three reference to Prof. Guoliang Huang @ huangg@missour.edu.

University of Missouri:

The University of Missouri is a Tier I research institution and one of only 60 public and private U.S. universities invited to membership in the prestigious Association of American Universities. MU has a world renowned Veterinary Medicine College on the same campus as an innovative School of Medicine and teaching hospital, the College of Business, School of Nursing, School of Public Affairs, and the College of Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources. The university was founded in 1839 in Columbia as the first public university west of the Mississippi River. Located midway between St. Louis and Kansas City, Columbia is a vibrant small city consistently ranked among the top places to live in the United States.
