Applications are sought for a Post-Doctoral Researcher at the Cardiff University, UK to join the exciting and active M2DO research lab. The primary research focus is to develop topology optimization for thermal-elastic interaction. This will be achieved by building on the level set topology optimization method that the M2DO lab has developed for mechanical and coupled problems. The application of interest is in the high temperature environment in aero-engines. The position is for two years.

The candidates must have experience in PDE-constrained optimization (preferably topology optimization) and C++ programming skills. In addition, relevant background in the following areas are encouraged to apply:

  • Level set method
  • Computational mechanics and finite element method
  • Heat transfer
  • Large scale scientific computing

Good team working skills, collaborative experience and enthusiasm for pushing the new frontier are essential. The positions requires regular travels to San Diego, USA where part of the M2DO lab is located and also to Rolls Royce, Derby.  More information about the current research activities of the lab can be found http://m2do.ucsd.edu

Further inquiries can be made by emailing Prof H Alicia Kim (alicia@ucsd.edu) with the subject: M2DO postdoc RR.
