PhD and Postdoct positions in Crystal Plasticity, IMDEA-Materials Institute

Searching for PhD (thesis) candidate and Postdoctoral research associate, to work in Multiscale Materials Modeling, with special emphasis in crystal plasticity modelling with the finite element method.
The position will be within a project funded by the Luxenbourg Funding Agency about the multi-scale simulation of mechanical behavior of metals. The work will deal with the simulation of the deformation and fracture of metals as function of the microstructure using continuum approaches (Crystal Plasticity and Phase-field models using Finite Element and Fast Fourier transform based solvers). The work will be performed under the supervision of the Dr. Javier Segurado.

Requierements for PhD candidates:
The optimum candidate should have the required Master or finish it this academic year in Materials science, Mechanical engineering, Applied Mathematics, Physics or similar.

A strong background in some following fields will be positive:
Continuum Mechanics
Finite element method
Programming skills  
The candidate should be eager to obtain a PhD degree and will be willing to give the best in a challenging problem. High level of English is mandatory.

Requierements for PostDoctoral candidates:
PhD in Materials science, Mechanical engineering, Applied Mathematics, Physics or similar.
Proved experience in at least two of these subject: 
Development and implementation of mechanical constitutive equations
Crystal plasticity
Finite element method
