OliverWeeger's picture

We are looking for a postdoctoral research fellow who has experience and interest in developing and implementing computational methods and algorithms for simulation and optimization in structural and continuum mechanics.

He or she will be involved in the development, implementation and validation of computational design, simulation, optimization and fabrication methods and tools for additive manufacturing of advanced lattice structures characterized by conformal & graded designs, large deformations, anisotropy, functional & multi-physics behavior, and multi-material 3D printing.

Desired qualifications:

•    PhD in Mechanical or Structural Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, or related areas from a reputable university.
•    General expertise and background in computational mechanics, numerical modelling and simulation.
•    Expertise in nonlinear structural and continuum mechanics, constitutive and multi-scale modelling, homogenization methods, isogeometric analysis.
•    Expertise in nonlinear optimization is an advantage.
•    Strong programming skills, preferably in C++ and MATLAB.
•    Experience with Finite Element and CAD software (e.g., Abaqus).
•    Experience in 3D printing and mechanical testing.
•    A good publication record with at least 2 papers in top tier journals of the relevant fields.

About SUTD and DManD Centre:

The Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) has established the SUTD Digital Manufacturing and Design Centre (DManD) through the support of the Singapore National Research Foundation (NRF). DManD has an ambitious long-term vision to create the frontiers of digital design and manufacturing by bringing together new ideas and methods in computational and engineering sciences, industrial and manufacturing engineering, technology-intensive design, architecture, and the humanities, arts, and social sciences in a way that facilitates the rapid transition of ideas to things.

Further information and contact:

The salary will be commensurate with the successful applicants' accomplishments, experience and qualifications. Singapore has a low income tax of around 5-7%. Contract duration is 1 year and can be extended.

Please submit your application, including your latest CV, certificates or transcripts of advanced and graduate level courses, and a 1-page statement of interest by email to Dr. Oliver Weeger at oliver_weeger@sutd.edu.sg. Application deadline is July 15, 2018. Only short-listed candidates will be notified.
