Immediate opening for a PhD student in MD Simulations of flows at complex surfaces.

There are immediate openings for Ph.D. positions at SMIEL (Soft Matter Interfaces and Energy Laboratory; Website: www.smiel.umd.edu) in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Maryland (UMD) starting in Spring 2019. These positions are described below:

ThePh.D. positions are on Molecular Dynamics (MD) Simulations. The topic is simulating (a) water transport in nanochannels grafted with polymer layers and (b) water interaction with graphene. The eligible candidates must have a strong background on MATLAB and statistics. Prior exposure to MD software like LAMMPS, GROMACS, etc. will be an added skillset that will be treated very favorably. The position will be fully funded. Interested candidates should immediately email a cover letter and an updated CV to Prof. Siddhartha Das (sidd@umd.edu). Prof. Das will scan the application and get back to the applicant for more in-depth discussion on the position. If the discussions are favorable, the candidate would need to apply for the Graduate School at UMD for Spring 2019 admission (start in Jan 2019). Email can also be sent to sdsinha@terpmail.umd.edu

We are actively interviewing candidates.
