Fully-Funded MS Position from Spring 19

A fully-funded MS position is available from Spring 19 in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. The prospective student should be highly motivated to take part in computational and/or experimental research related to multiscale/multiphysics modeling and/or biomechanics. The student will be involved in any of the following areas depending on his/her interest and background: 1) Cellular Materials and Hierarchical Structures and 2) Osteoporosis and Hip Fracture Risk. I am particulary interested in candidates with experience in solid mechanics, multiscale/multiphysics modeling, topology optimization, FEA. However, the key concerns and expectations are following:  

  1. The research broadly uses commercial FEA software (Abaqus, ANSYS, Hypermesh), Medical image processing software, MATLAB, Python. Knowledge of one or more FEA software is expected, and especially the ability of UMAT/VUMAT coding (for Abaqus) and ANSYS APDL coding would be asset for the research.
  2. Experience in coding (MATLAB/Python/C/C++) and most of all interest in coding is MUST.
  3. Good writing skills will be an asset as well.
  4. Hardworking and pro-active research minded.
