PhD position in modeling of solidification in Ni-base superalloys at the University of Nevada, Reno

One PhD opening is available in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Nevada, Reno for a student with a desire to start in Spring 2019. The research group performs advanced theoretical and computational research in the areas of microstructural evolution, phase field method development, crystal plasticity, and computational methods for materials science and mechanics. The ideal applicant should have MSc in mechanical engineering, materials science and engineering,or solid-state chemistry, physics, or similar with some experience via course/research in solidification, microstructure science,elasticity, defects in crystalline solids, numerical methods and advanced programming skills in C/C++ or Fortran or both.
