ABAQUS connector element damage convergence problem

Hi,

I am trying to model connection damage and failure problem using connector elements (specifically cartesian translation type). It has non-linear elastic and damage behavior. The simulation works fine upto the peak of the load-displacement curve beyond which it gives me convergence problem. I looked up the abaqus manual and tried to apply viscous regularization as recommended by the manual but it won't even accept it in the keyword editor of ABAQUS/CAE. Can someone please suggest me how to apply the recommended viscous regularization or any other method to make the connection damage work? All I want is for the load to drop to zero after the connection has been damaged and maybe delete the element if possible.
