Multiple Postdoctoral Research Positions Available Immediately at University of Maryland, College Park
Description
Applications are invited for multiple postdoctoral research positions in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at University of Maryland, College Park (UMD). Successful candidates will participate in a vibrant interdisciplinary and collaborative research group and be involved in projects pursuing research in the field of novel sustainable materials with exceptional properties. Applicants in the following two areas are welcome:
Area 1: Materials processing, characterization and testing
Requirements:
- A Ph.D. in engineering (materials science, mechanical, chemical), chemistry or physics
- Research experience in at least two of the following areas: material processing (chemical/physical), materials characterization (SEM/TEM/AFM/Raman, etc), material property testing (mechanical/thermal/optical/chemical)
- Published at least 3 journal papers as first author (or co-first).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Team working spirit, initiative-taking and hard-working.

Area 2: Mechanics modeling and computational materials science
Requirements:
- A Ph.D. in engineering (mechanical, materials science) or physics
- Research experience in at least two of the following areas: DFT calculation, atomistic simulations (MD/MM), coarse grained modeling, finite element modeling. Multiscale modeling skills will be be particularly favorable.
- Published at least 3 journal papers as first author (or co-first).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Team working spirit, initiative-taking and hard-working.
