ABAQUS cylindrical coordinate system boundary condition failure?
Submitted by Rhodri J. Colin York on Sat, 2008-03-29 00:40.
Fig 1 - Why does the boundary condition...:
Fig 2 0 ...result in the expansion of the tube's edge:
Surely the boundary condition should prevent the expansion of the end of the tube in the x-y (1-2, R-T) plane? Am I doing something wrong? Note the BC datum coordinate system is a cylindrical coordinate system with origin on the tube's axis (as shown in Fig 1 in yellow). Thank you for your help, much appreciated.

are u sure?
There is not clear sign for the expansion of the constrained edges. Could u supply more information, i.e. the displacement plot?

Hello Ying, First of all,
Hello Ying,
First of all, thank you for your reply, I am very greatful.
In regards to my question, I am going to source help from elsewhere as I feel there are too many variables associated with the model that make the intial question too open-ended for an internet forum discussion.
Once again, thank you for your input!
