The Cardiovascular Biomechanics Lab in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to join our research team. The position is supported by a research grant from the NIH to study the mechanical stability and tortuosity of blood vessels. Qualifications include a doctoral degree in BME or ME in computational fluid mechanics, or computational biomechanics.

Good communication and writing skills are required. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in fluid-structure interaction, mechanical instability, computational fluid dynamics, and ABAQUS. Skills in mechanical testing of vascular tissue or animal models would be a plus. Salary is competitive based on qualification. The initial appointment is for 2 years with the possibility for additional years. The Cardiovascular Biomechanics Lab is also part of the Biomedical Engineering Program jointly sponsored by UTSA and University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (UTHSCSA). The postdoctoral will have the opportunity to work with collaborators, including vascular biologists, vascular surgeons, and biomedical engineers, at both campuses.

UTSA is a Hispanic Serving Institution and applicants with minority background are encouraged to apply.
