Hii all,
How can we model a bi-material interface using abaqus.

Hi, In abaqus, you can
Hi,
In abaqus, you can create one part and partition it into 2 components and apply material and section property to the two components respectively.
If you are considering the interface crack, you can exploit the seam technique (two independent nodes at the same location). I once model a interfacial crack between viscoelastic-elastic bimaterial and study its singular stress distribution in my master research.
If you are considering to model the crack propagation, the XFEM technique in the new version may help. but I have never tried yet.
drop a line to me if you do need further discussion: LihuaTang@pmail.ntu.edu.sg
I'm not modelling crack
I'm not modelling crack propogation, i just want to find the energy release rate of dflected crack.
hi All
can I have more information about using abaqus in welding (same as bimaterial)
