Dear Colleagues,
We are glad to announce that the Biomechanics Committee of the Engineering Mechanics Institute (EMI) of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) has established a
best student competition:
Y.C. FUNG STUDENT PAPER COMPETITION ON BIOMECHANICS AND BIOPHYSICS
The first annual competition will be held at the EMI 2011 conference at the Northeastern University, Boston during June 2-4 2011. We cordially invite your
students to submit an abstract to this student award competition. Please see the attached file for detailed information of the award competition.
Please encourage graduate students (or senior undergraduate students) from you lab to enter the best student paper contest. We wish that with your help this best
student paper competition may become a new tradition for students who working in biomechanics in different academic fields, and that this student award will provide
a forum to discover and promote new talents and it will have positive impacts on our community.
Please find attached a flyer that details the submission and selection procedure. Please encourage suitable candidates to apply and feel free to circulate the flyer
amongst colleagues. Thank you for your support.
Key dates and process:
1. By Jan. 15, 2011 submission of an abstract or full paper (for select symposia) to
any of the sessions at EMI 2011, according to the guidelines listed at
http://www.northeastern.edu/emi2011/paper/call-for-papers/ and
http://www.northeastern.edu/emi2011/wp-content/uploads/Abstract-guideline.pdf
2. Following abstract acceptance, but no later than April 1, 2011, submission of
7-page research paper (format requirements and address below)
3. Oral presentation at EMI 2011. The award winner will be selected based on the
evaluation of the 7-page paper and the performance during the oral presentation at
EMI 2011
