Royal Society - International Newton Fellowships

2 Year PDRA Opportunity in:

Image Based Modelling to Improve Damage/Fracture Tolerance in Materials

The project would involve investigating the damage/fracture tolerance of materials at low strain rates using both experimental techniques (tomography) and computer modelling (creating the finite element models from 3D tomography images). Strong preference would be given to candidates with programming skills in Fortran, in order to add damage or fracture mechanics capability to existing parallel finite element software called ParaFEM. The PDRA would have access to National and International HPC facilities; a number of computed x-ray tomography imaging systems at the University of Manchester Henry Moseley X-ray Imaging Facility and a dedicated beamline at the Diamond Light Source, Oxford.

If you are interested in this opportunity, please READ THE FELLOWSHIP CALL below to check your eligibility before contacting lee.margetts@manchester.ac.uk.

Royal Society: Newton International Fellowships
